Richard McGinty 1941-2012 Richard
E. McGinty was born May 24, 1941 in Galveston, Texas, and passed away
Wednesday, January 11, 2012, in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife
of forty-seven years, Sidney; children, Richard D. and wife, Molly; Lisa,
and David; grandchildren Stacey, Jonathan, Ashley, and Megan; and
great-grandson Brody. Richard studied voice at the University
of Texas in Austin and served in the US Army from 1963 through 1965. He
was a former choir director and past President of the Houston Saengerbund,
third Vice President of the Nord-Amerikanischer Sängerbund, past President
of the English Speaking Union, co-founder of The Celtic Chorus of Houston,
and 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #803.The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, January 13, with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00pm, and the Funeral Service celebrating Richard's life will be at 10:00am Saturday, January 14, all held at Niday Funeral Home on Beamer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's name may be made to North American Singers Association Foundation. ![]()
