Subject: Heather and Thistle member Ian Paton's Death

Sorry to tell you that my dear friend Ian Paton died at Park Plaza Hospice on
Tuesday evening. He had been suffering from lung cancer and osteoarthritis.

Ian has been a Heather and Thistle member since the early sixties. He and
I as teenagers worked in the same factory in Scotland. I was a few years
older than Ian and we were just acquainted then. We met again in Houston
and got to know each other when he was transferred here with NASA, and
became best friends for 40 years. You may recall that his wife Margaret
died from cancer just two years ago. In all the years Margaret missed only
one Burns Supper, while Ian missed only two.

The services will be at Ian's Church on Sunday at 2pm, exact location to follow.

Thanks, Jack Hume
