J. DOUGLASS MOORE, born September 2, 1925 in Houston, Texas, passed away September 23, 2001 in Houston, Texas after a long and courageous fight with cancer. He was a resident of Houston for 76 years.

Mr. Moore was an Admiral in the Texas Navy, Regent for the State of Texas in the Clan Douglass Society of North America, a retired Merchant Marine Officer of Masters, Mates and Pilots Union, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, a past Chapter President of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, a life member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a member of the Military Order of the Stars and Bars, past Camp Commander of Albert Sidney Johnston, past Confederate Ball Chairman, past Adjutant Texas Division of the SCV and Texas Society of MOS&B, past Western U.S. Vice President and Inspector-in-Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a past Chieftain of the Heather and Thistle Society, and life member of the Order of the Southern Cross.

His wife, Barbara Bowie Moore , son, Michael David Moore , and sister, Anna Jean Sides preceded him in death. Two sons, Richard Douglass and wife Debra, Roger Douglass and his wife Dona, two grandchildren, Roger David and Catherine Elizabeth Moore survives him. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.

Memorial Service 7:00 p.m., Thursday September 27, 2001 at the Earthman Bellaire Chapel, 6700 Ferris.
